Beeb Birtles at Adelaide Fringe Festival was an unforgettable performance. The venue was packed with sentimental fans who had followed Beeb's music career since the 1960's.
The “1965 Masters Apprentices” features 4 original 1960s members including founding members Mick Bower (guitarist /founder and principal composer), Brian Vaughton (drums), Gavin Webb (bass) and Rick Harrison (guitarist - joining in 1967). The band's Adelaide Fringe Festival gig saw the original lineup joined by guitarist Rob Pippan and additional vocalists Ian Polly Politis, Nanette Van Ruiten and Matt MacNamee (second kit), plus vocalist Craig Holden.
Hush were a glam rock pop phenomenon in the 1970's. Disbanding in 1977, Hush have made only rare appearances as the original lineup doesn't exist. Get Rocked played at Adelaide's 2019 Fringe Festival and created a buzz across town. MEGAscene was there to document the event.
David Bowie put Carinda NSW on the music map when he filmed the video 'Let’s Dance' in the town's hotel bar. A yearly festival is now held in Carinda to celebrate the impact Bowie made on the little town - population 158. MEGAscene's Bowie-tragic writer drove 2000 ks return to attend the outback glam event.
From London to Vietnam to Australia, Chris Duffy's artwork is renowned. From his part-time base in central Victoria, Chris has made his mark on laneways, brick walls, street doors and galleries. Famous faces and curious icons feature in Chris' work and it is his depictions of distinctive rock music artists that caught MEGAscene's attention.
Melbourne Victoria has long been a hot spot for music and art. Every year Melbourne Music Week showcases a diverse selection of local and international acts. 2019 will be remembered as the year when Melbourne Music Week smashed all expectations by bringing DAF to Australia for the first time.

The Australian Blues Music scene is now documented. Beginning with the roots of blues music in Australia through to the present day, Pauline Bailey's book is a living history of the story of the Australian Blues music scene. In her interview with MEGAscene Pauline talked about the process of writing her book. The interview also inlcudes the launch of the book which was attended by musicans who feature in the book.
Charlton in Central Victoria is now a mecca for alternative music. OK Motel's gigs in Charlton are staged at an original Motel - just ripe for retro parties. In November 2019, MEGAscene was at an OK Motels gig in Charlton featuring Amyl and the Sniffers. It was a wild ride!
After 40 years in the South Australian music scene, Rob Pippan was inducted into the SA Music Hall of Fame. The induction honoured Pippan's tireless and passionate contributions to music.
